Shop of Opportunities

At ‘Fernlea Shop of Opportunities’ you can have a great time shopping and find a bargain. We have such great

stock, it’s not unusual to find that special item you’ve been looking for. And we have new stock several times

a week.

Staffed by a friendly team of volunteers, the store offers second-hand, low-cost quality goods including clothing, kitchenware, furniture, books and bric-a-brac.

At Fernlea we care about the environment – recycling clothes, books, bric-a-brac and other pre-loved items has

many environmental benefits, including reducing landfill and greenhouse gas emissions. Promoting re-use and offering an alternative to a throwaway culture helps to create a sustainable future.

Plus, all profits from the sale of goods stay in the local community and support our community services for

people with a life-limiting illness.

Our shop is located at 15 Kilvington Drive, Emerald.

But the ‘Fernlea Shop of Opportunities’ is so much more than just a shop! It is also a hub of our community

  • Our garden produces vegetable and herbs that are used at our day respite service

  • We are a ’Food is Free’ outlet, where locals can share food. Find out more about the

     ‘Food is Free’ movement here

  • We are part of the historic Emerald tourist trail and our shop has a range of information about local attractions

  • You don’t need to buy anything - if you are feeling lonely or have some spare time, you

can visit our shop, make yourself a cuppa and          just read a book or enjoy our gardens
