Staffed by a friendly cohesive and welcoming team of volunteers, the store offers pre-loved and new clothing items, kitchenware, books, artworks, bric-a-brac, collectables, antiques, and sometimes rare and unusual items. All of our items are realistically priced and affordable.
At Fernlea we care about the environment – we recycle clothes, shoes, toys, books, bric-a-brac and other pre-loved items. The way we recycle has many environmental benefits, including reducing landfill and greenhouse gas emissions. Promoting re-use and offering an alternative to a throwaway culture helps to create a sustainable future.
Plus, all profits from the sale of goods stay in the local community and support our community services for people with a life-limiting illness.
The ‘Fernlea Shop of Opportunities’ is so much more than just a shop! It is also a hub of our community
Our garden produces vegetable and herbs that are used at our day respite service.
We are a ’Food is Free’ outlet, where locals can share food. Find out more about the
‘Food is Free’ movement here
We are part of the historic Emerald tourist trail and our shop has a range of information about local attractions.
You don’t need to buy anything - if you are feeling lonely or have some spare time, you can
visit our shop and enjoy our gardens.
Our gift vouchers are available for purchase at
the Emerald's Shop of Opportunities and valid
for 12 months to spend on our high-quality
pre-loved goods and new items.
