Fernlea House is situated on a third of an acre in Emerald.
The house is an old hills cottage that has been suitably renovated to the highest standards for people who are frail, unwell or disabled. The house consists of a lounge room, activities room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms, a complementary therapy room, two offices and a quiet room for resting.
We have electric reclining lounge chairs for the ease and comfort of our guests as well as other appropriate equipment to assist people who require it.
The gardens have been transformed and are an essential part of the ambience of Fernlea House. There is outside decking and seating, a gazebo, fish pond, bird baths, sensory garden and well established trees and ferns.
Included in the staff are three nurses who all have qualifications and experience in palliative care.
Fernlea in the Valley operates from a property called Comely Bank which is owned by the Sisters of Charity and is 5 minutes from the township of Healesville.
The day centre is in the hall which has beautiful stained glass windows and a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Nipper the goat keeps us company and opposite is wonderful strawberry fields.
